It was goals galore in the match day one of the 2020 Amapro Football Championship at the KFA Ground on Sunday.

Amapro is a competition designed and packaged by Phreestyle Sports CEO, Shogo Shodunke. SportFlames Radio and Pro Soccer were on ground to cover the event.

The competition designed to discover talents lived up to it billing with 12 goals scored on the first day.

ABS Director of Football, Alloy Chukwuemeka took the traditional kickoff much to the applause of fans at the Arena.

The opening ceremony saw Pro Leaguers and youthful Olanshile Football Academy thrill fans in Ilorin. The game ended 4-2 in favour of Pro Leaguers. But the Academy Boys won many admirers with their fearless approach.

The Pro Leaguers got their noses in front through bulky striker Ebenezer Odeyemi who latched on to Dede Moughara’s sweet pass to score.

Young playmaker Ogunrinola Matthew dictated the tempo at the middle of the park. He forced goalkeeper Wasiu Ibrahim to a costly mistake and Oladosu Mathias curled to the back of the net.

Like Oliver Twist, the fans wanted more and they got it.

Four minutes after the hour mark, Dede Moughara whipped a deadly left footed freekick to the back of the net to restore the lead for the Pro Leaguers.

Ogunrinola would have a say in the Academy Boys’ equaliser. He collected the ball from his half, dribbled three players before setting up substitute Ganiyu Wasiu who sidefooted the ball home.

Two more goals from Ebenezer Odeyemi for his hat trick put the game beyond Olanshile Football Academy as the Pro Leaguers showed experience to win.

Meanwhile, Non Leaguers fought back to force Mokwa Academy to a 3-3 draw.

Mokwa seemed to be cruising early as they went 3-1 up within 25 minutes following goals from Jubril Isah, Awal Mohammed and Yunusa Isah.

However, Ibrahim Balogun reduced the tally in the 47th minute.

The Non Leaguers turned things around as Kehinde Baibata equalized with a brilliant header.

Goalkeeper Aberi Shola pulled off a number of important saves throughout the match to leave the Non Leaguers ultimately grateful for a point.
