The Squirrels of Benin Republic will be without defensive duo of Khaled Adenon and Olivier Verdon when they confront Nigeria in the opening game of the AFCON 2021 qualifiers billed for the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo on November 13, reports OwoSports.com.

Adenon and Verdon are out of the tie due to injury and card suspension respectively.

Adenon, a defender with Al Wehda in Saudi Arabia will be out for Michel Dussuyer Squirrels as he would go under doctor’s knives not until January and will have to wait for the winter break to change clubs since he has already broken his contract with Al Wehda.

Verdon a central defender for Belgian club Eupen, will miss the game as he will be serving his match ban following a red card he received in the Squirrels AFCON 2019 quarter-final game against Senegal.

The development will leave Dussuyer no choice than to rely on Nigeria-born Salomon Junior or Cédric Hountondji (who returns from injury), Nabil Yarou and Jordan Adeoti as the back four to stop the Eagles attack fire-power of Victor Osimhen, Joseph Ayodele-Aribo and Moses Simon.
