AFCON 2021: CAF Slams Ghana’s Benjamin Tetteh With Three Match Ban

The Confederation of Africa football Governing Body CAF has handed Ghana’s forward Benjamin Tetteh With a three-match ban, Owosports.com.ng reports.

The 24-year-old was sent off for his part in an on-pitch melee after full-time following the Black Star’s 1-1 draw against Gabon on Friday.

“The CAF Disciplinary Board held a meeting this morning (Saturday) to deliberate on a number of incidents that occurred at the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations Cameroon 2021.

TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations match: Gabon vs Ghana

On 13 January 2022, Gabon played Ghana at Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium in Yaounde. Cameroon. The match officials indicated in their report that at the final whistle, Ghana player Benjamin Tetteh allegedly assaulted a Gabonese player.

CAF Disciplinary Board decided to:

To suspend player Ghana player Benjamin Tetteh for one additional game match in addition to his automatic suspension of two matches. Consequently, the player has been suspended for three matches.

The Disciplinary Board has also issued a stern warning to both teams for their unsportsmanship behaviour after referees’ full time whistle.
