Elkanemi Warriors cruise into round two of the men’s Aiteo Cup by seeing off Ngwa United Fc of Ebonyi on Sunday, winning 2-0.
Former Akwa United player, Aminu Nuhu opened the scoring in the 40th minute before Mid-Season signing Chijioke Alaekwe doubled the Borno Army’s lead.
Alaekwe, who joined on loan from Kano Pillars tapped home through a square pass from Richard in the 54th minute for his first Aiteo Cup goal.
It will be recalled Alaekwe scored on his Elkanemi debut against Oyah Sport during Match-Day 19 of the Nigerian National League (NNL) played in Abuja.
The former Ifeanyi Ubah player now has two goals in two matches as Elkanemi set up a meeting with Katsina United in Round Two of the Aiteo Cup.
