Akpudje Craves For UEFA Europa League Qualification With Daugavpils


Former MFMFC defender Joshua Akpudje has opened up on his desires in helping his Latvian top-flight side BFC Daugavpils secure qualifications for next season’s UEFA Europa League, Owosports.com.ng reports.

The 22-year-old who has been a super regular Daugavpils since joining in March 2020, he has however stated that his paramount objective for this season is to work hard and ensure that his team emerges champions of the Latvian league which will put them in pole position of qualifying for the Europa League.

“It has been a very difficult season so far, offcourse it’s expected, but we just have to pushing to see that we finish well,” He told www.owosports.com.ng.

“My target for the team is for us to win the League which will see us qualify for Europe, we are currently 5th on the log we have a game on Monday against Fk Liepaja, am looking forward to a very positive result from that game,” he said.

Daugavpils recorded a 3-2 win over Ventiplis on Thursday after haven gone three games without a win, they will however be looking to get another win as they aim to keep the momentum going in other to keep alive their slim chance of clinching the title.

Daugavpils are 5th on the log with 20 points, fifteen points adrift of Riga FS who are topping the Latvian league table with 35 points after 12 rounds of matches played so far.

The Lagos born defender made 28 appearance scoring two goals for Nigerian Professional Football League side MFM after joining in 2019 from his youth team Femmak Football Academy before completing a move to Latvian elite division side BFC Daugavpils on 3rd march 2020.
