The Algerian Football Association (AFA) has pushed forward the date for 2020 Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) from January to June/July 2022 due to the recent changes made by CAF.
The changes was as a result of the 2021 African Cup of Nation originally scheduled for January 2021 but has now been moved to January 2022 due to Coronavirus pandemic.
Media reports indicates that the 2022 African Nations Championship(CHAN) has been shifted from January Algerian FA has announced.
Algerian Football Federation (FAF) Secretary General Mohamed Saad confirmed the switch in an interview with an Algerian radio station.
“We recently received correspondence from the African football confederation which asked us to postpone the CHAN 2022 to the summer of 2022, after AFCON 2022 was pushed to January 22. CAF has suggested organizing this competition between June and July, but we will be making a final decision shortly in consultation with the Ministry of Youth and Sports,” he said.
