Katsina United head coach, Bishir Sadauki believes that the Changi Boys can only be rated as been almost ready for the start of the season if they can give a good account of themselves in games involving tougher opponents like Wikki Tourists and Plateau United.
The Changi Boys 1 and 2 teams defeated Sokoto United and Zamfara United by 2-0 and 3-1 in that order to record their respective third win of the Governor Masari Preseason Tournament but Sadauki refused to be carried away insisting they needed tougher opposition for him to ascertain the level of his team’s preparation for the new season.
The head coach lauded the improvement his boys have made in front of the goal but warned that they must not get carried away despite their strong start to the ongoing Governor Masari Preseason Tournament.
“Just like I said in an earlier interview the most important is to prepare the boys for upcoming competitions,” Sadauki told Governor Masari Preseason Tournament Media in an interview.
“I can recall that we got to the AHLAN Cup two seasons ago and we played some matches without scoring a goal. We prepare with the hindsight of the opponents we are likely to face in the NPFL.
“If you look at the way we played the first half, we were not outstanding but when we talked to the boys during the halftime break with new instructions, they played to instructions and we won.”
Coach Sadauki also thumbed up the performance of his striker, Massaly Boubakar who netted his fourth goal of the tournament in Katsina United’s 3-1 win over Zamfara United and was adjudged the Man of the Match in the game.
Massaly Boubakar is a very good player and when he arrived at Katsina United, we were able to assist him. Initially, his finishing wasn’t that good but we have worked on it.”
Sadauki went on to explain what must be done to ensure that Katsina United are counted among the frontrunners for the league title next season.
“It wasn’t about the victory that made the team to be balanced. I know that I have bigger matches coming. I know we still play to play teams that are better organised like Plateau, Wikki Tourists, and others. It is after facing them and seeing the result we get against them then I can be able to judge better.
“With the fact that we have started scoring, I can rightly say that we are 60 percent ready. We have to do more things for the team to be sound and balanced,” he concluded.
