Breaking: Edo Sports Festival Postponed

The 20th National Sports Festival has been postponed due to the spread of Coronavirus pandemic.

This decision to suspend the biggest Sporting event in Nigeria indefinitely is coming this morning after a brief meeting between President Muhammad Buhari, Minister of Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire and the Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Mr. Sunday Dare at the State house.

Mr Sunday Dare posted on his twitter handle “Following the briefing of Mr. President from myself and the Minister of State for Health on COVID 19, Mr. President approved the immediate postponement of Edo Sports festival to a future date”

Coronavirus pandemic is a deadly disease which broke out last year December in Central city of Wuhan and surrounding Hubei province, where two-thirds of Global cases have been recorded.

According to Reuters, the disease has So far claimed 4,298 lives with more than 119,100 people being infected across the world.

In football, the consequence effects of the virus has occasioned the temporary suspension of the Barclays Premier League in England. It is expected to resume back to action on 3rd of April.

According to reports, some of the UEFA Champions League Matches coming up next week will be decided in a closed door situation as part of the strategy to curtail the spread of the virus.
