Super Eagles goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi’s South African top-flight side, Kaizer Chiefs have announced the return of former manager Stuart Baxter.

“Kaizer Chiefs have secured their new coach with the return of Stuart Baxter to Naturena,” Chiefs posted on its website on Wednesday.

Chiefs, who parted ways with Gavin Hunt a fortnight ago after a disastrous nine months, added to confirm that Baxter has put pen to paper on a two-year deal that includes another two-year extension option.

“Baxter and the Club have agreed to a two-year contract plus a two-year option as the coach of Amakhosi’s first team,” the noted added.

Baxter’s previous stint with Amakhosi started in 2012, where he won two league titles, the MTN8 and Nedbank Cups before resigning in 2015 over happiness with the club’s academy structure and recruitment policy.

The 67-year-old went on to coach in Genclerbirlgi (Turkey), SuperSport United and of course Bafana Bafana, as well as India’s Odisha FC.

Meanwhile, it remains to be seen if Baxter will begin immediately or wait for the new season as Chiefs prepare for a CAF Champions League semi-final against Moroccan giants Wydad Casablanca this month.
