FC Ebedei produced the best come back in the 8th edition of the Ogunjobi Gold Cup after they beat Ekiti United 2-1 to throw Group A open, with all teams needing the last game to progress to the semi-finals.

Ekiti United broke the deadlock with Bello Babatunde finishing up a perfect build up to score his second goal in the 8th edition of the pre-season tourney.

The Fountain Boys lead didn’t last more than 17 minutes as it was relief for FC Ebedei after Adebayo Oluwatomisin scored their first goal in the tourney latching on to a low cross from Asowa to level scores in the 37th minute.

It was a soothing moment to remember for a better organized  Oliseh Boys in the closing minute of the second half as they scored the winning goal via a brilliant individual display from Onabolu Tumise.

Tumise, stole the evening after he rounded off the Ekiti United last man and the keeper before slotting home FC Ebedei.

In the other game of Group A played earlier, Gombe United failed to fire up as they lost 2-1 to ABS FC of Ilorin.

The former Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) giant-killers went up when they were awarded a penalty following a needless tackle from Savannah Scorpions goalkeeper Kazeem Yekini on Samuel inside the box.

Mubarik Gata made no mistake as he converted the spot kick for his team’s first goal.

Okorom David doubled the tally for the Saraki Boys in the 47th minute after he nicked past a helpless Yekeen to slot home his first goal of the campaign.

Substitute Barnaban Daniel reduced the deficit for Gombe United in the hour mark when he shot from close range to beat Nasiru Toheeb in goal for the Saraki Boys.

FC Ebedei and Gombe United will now meet ABS FC and Ekiti United respectively in the last fixtures on Monday to determine who qualifies from the group.
