The 2019/2020 season of the Bundesliga, Germany’s top division football will resume on Saturday May 16th after over two months of suspension due to coronavirus pandemic with five Nigerians due to be in action.

Suleiman Abdullahi and Anthony Ujah of Union Berlin, Taiwo Awoniyi of Mainz 05, Jamilu Collins of SC Paderborn and Kingsley Ehizibue of Köln.

While Abdullahi who joined Union Berlin in 2018 is yet to test action this season, his compatriot Ujah has one goal to his name having started six of the last twenty five matches for his team this season. Taiwo Awoniyi on loan from Liverpool will also be hoping for playing time having already appeared six times this season for club side with no goal yet in what has been a disappointing time for the Nigerian.

Super Eagles left back, Jamilu Collins who has scored one goal in 21 league appearances for Paderborn this season will hope to continue helping his team, SC Paderborn beat the drop as they are currently anchored to the foot of the league with 16 points from 25 games. The team faces Fortuna Dusseldorf on Saturday as Steffen Baumgart’s men will need maximum points from this game to boost their survival hopes.

Defender, Kingsley Ehizibue has played in 23 of Köln’s 25 league games so far this season, missing two games due to a suspension following a red card for a foul on Bayern Munich’s Philippe Coutinho. The new Super Eagles right-back has currently won more tackles (47) more than any other player in the Bundesliga this season.

Reigning champion Bayern Munich leads the table, Borussia Dortmund sits just four points behind in second place, with RB Leipzig and Borussia Mönchengladbach also within reach of the title with nine games remaining.
