The organisers of 2020 Flying Officers Cup, Nigeria biggest women football Championship on Friday announce that it would pay out half a million Naira (N500,000) to the winner of the Pre-season.
Barrister Paul Edeh, the founder of Ratels Sports Foundation, sponsors of the Women Football Pre-season Championship made this known while addressing journalists in Abuja.
Edeh revealed that plans for the grand prize of N500,000 for the winner of the Pre-season Championship was made known late because it was meant to be a surprise for participating teams.
“Plans were on ground from the begining to reward the winner with a prize money. We thought we should make it a big surprise to the teams. Edeh said.
“We intend to make it more competitive and to reward participating teams too. The first runner up will go home with N300,000, while the second runners up gets N200,000.
“Also in a bid to stave off the financial crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic, we decided to make registration free, and subsidize accommodation for teams by almost 70%.
Bayelsa Queens, Rivers Angels, Edo queens, Nasarawa Amazons, Confluence Queens, Naija Ratels FC, Osun Babes, Abia Angels will arrive the Federal Capital City, Abuja this weekend for the Championship.
Edo Queens are defending Champions of the Competition which was formerly known as the Naija Ratels Pre-season Championship.
