Katsina United showed no respect to CAF Champions League campaigner, Plateau United after they whitewashed the Peace Boys 4-0 in one of the matches of the Governor Masari Preseason Tournament played at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium, Katsina yesterday.
The Changi Boys had a near perfect first half and were four goals up before the halftime through the goals of Abdulkarim Ahmed, Samuel Kalu, Abdulrashid Ahmed and Joseph Atule in the 15th (penalty), 20th, 25th and 43rd minutes respectively.
Abdu Maikaba’s men put up a bold fight in the second half and didn’t concede any further goals besides the ones they shipped in, in the first half. They have just three points from three games in Group A and will face Junior Katsina United this afternoon in their fourth game.
Meanwhile, Katsina United (I) extended their leadership of Group A to nine points from three and are rested from action today.
Zamfara United created a mammoth upset at the Governor Masari Preseason Tournament at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium, Katsina yesterday after they thrashed NPFL side, Wikki Tourists 5-2 in a Group B tie but Plateau United (II) went goal berserk in 5-1 pummelling of non-league side, Dadin Kowa Academy.
Zamfara United are campaigning in the lower league but they dealt decisively with the Giant Elephants to record their second win of the tournament with Lasisi Ahmed’s double and one each from Mudashir Badamosi, Louis Ntaji, and Idris Ajiya rendering goals from Ajala Olushola and Freedom Omofoman as mere consolation goals for Wikki Tourists.
In another affair, Plateau United (II) followed up with their 4-1 victory over Garkuwa with another thrilling 5-1 defeat of Dadin Kowa Academy. Usman Ahmed’s first-half hat-trick fueled the emphatic win.
Niger Tornadoes were also held to a 1-1 draw by ambitious Sokoto United in another game of the Governor Masari Preseason Tournament in Katsina.
Today, in the continuation of the tourney ongoing in Katsina, Plateau United (II) that took the place of Danburam will lock horns with Katsina United (II) by 8am while Niger Tornadoes versus Garkuwa, Junior Katsina United versus Plateau United I and Rarara Academy versus Wikki Tourists are the other games that will be held today by 10 am, 2 pm and 4 pm.
