Fidelis Ilechukwu says his Heartland team is responding at it’s own pace as they prepare for the upcoming Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), he then poured praises on Amanda FC after they emerged champions of the Fidelis Ilechukwu Super 6 Tournament.
Amanda FC became champions of the grassroot tourney after they beat Taye FC 3-2 in a thriller at the Township Stadium in Owerri.
“Congratulations to Amanda FC for winning the first edition of of the Fidelis Ilechukwu Super 6 tournament in Owerri. It was a keenly contested one as all the six teams that took part in it have their best.
“Credit goes to the Executive Board of Imo State Football Association, Heartland management, match officials for they played towards the successful hosting of the tournament and also to all grassroot players who added quality to tourney with their beautiful display of football.
“Also not forgetting Heartland General Manager, Ifeanyi Chukwudi for his enormous support too, he for grassroot players and football.”
“During the 2-day football fiesta, I saw lots of raw talents, that were ambitious to take their football career to the next level. Though it’s just a few my assistants and I have chosen to come training with my squad as we intend to expose them to the professional side of the game.
“This would mean sharpening their skills, w2w on their fitness level, game management and imbibe in them the right attitude, that is been disciplined on and off the field with a view of preparing them to the big stage.
“I have confidence in these rookies as they can give any Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) star a good fight for his jersey if they get the platform to explore and that’s what Heartland will provide them, though it’s going to be challenging from the beginning.”

“Just like every other NPFL teams and calling a spade one, we have started preparations for the new NPFL season, but at a slow pace.
“However the team hopes to get better in the coming weeks as we should play some tune-up matches. We also, we’ll be bringing in a psychologists, who will help in improving the psychic of my players and they need to have that winning mentality going into the season.”
