HIFL Round of 16: Unilorin Warriors Receives Vice Chancellor’s Support Ahead Of KSU Steelers Clash

The Vice Chancellor, University of Ilorin, Professor Sulyman Age Abdulkareem has assured the school football team (Unilorin Warriors) of his total support ahead of their Wednesday’s HIFL second leg round of 16 match against Kogi State University(KSU Steelers).

Speaking at the training session of the team on Monday, the Vice Chancellor,who was represented by Deputy Vice Chancellor On Research,Technology and Innovation, Professor Mikail Olayinka Buhari charged the team to leverage on their feat as the third place winner of the 2019 edition of the league in approaching the game.

“They don’t need extra motivation because the match itself is a motivation. Success will bring progress and for a team that did well in the last edition, going out at this stage is not an option”. said Professor Buhari.

The University Don, who expressed optimism that the team will secure a resounding victory over the visitors, said the School management had provided all they needed in terms of financial motivation and moral support.

He added that the management  would be willing to do more for the team as they progresses in the league as he vowed to lead other principal officers of the University to cheer them up in the game.

Earlier, the Director of Sports, University of Ilorin, Professor Mrs Leah Dominic had annnouced that the school management had made provision for match bonus for all the players and the team’s officials.

In his own remark, the Captain of the team, Ismahil Hameed Oyeyinka, who will not be playing the game due to injury sustained in one of their training session lauded the school management for their continuous support and promised they “will not disappoint the University community”

The encounter, scheduled for 4pm on Wednesday will hold at the University Stadium main bowl and the winner between the two teams will face Federal University of Technology,Minna in the quarter-final stage.

Unilorin Warriors played a 1-1 draw with KSU Steelers in the first leg of the match played at the Kogi State University Sports Complex, Ayingba on the 14th of July.
