Call On Sports Commission, Governor To Act Swiftly

Ex-Kwara United Players have vowed not to relent in their pursuit to get their entitlements owed by the previous Government of Abdulfatah Ahmed and the former chairman of the Club Prince Olademeji Thompson.

The players on Wednesday evening stormed the Kwara Football Academy (KFA) pitch to halt Kwara United’s preseason match against Kaduna based side Ikon Allah Football Academy.

Speaking on behalf of the former Kwara United players in a video posted online was Ayeni Kehinde David who revealed that they are being owed over Seven Million naira by the club and they’ve agreed to fight for their money.

“When they were preparing for their continental match some months ago we came to stop their training and they came calmed us down and promised to give us our money in two weeks time which we agreed and we were expecting the Chairman sports commission Coach Bola Mogaji who promised meet with the Governor to call us but no good results came out from the sports commission.

Now we are here again to stop their friendly match because we need our money, some of us are home we are hungry we don’t have anybody some of our colleagues are even dead.

Now the Government is paying this players and have forgotten the money they are owing the ex-players, we are not here to disturb anybody we are only here to fight for our right which we are here to do.

We want to appeal to the people Kwara state and the Governor to do the needful or we will keep disrupting their trainings and even their league matches when it commences we won’t allow them play this is the decision we’ve taken and we won’t back out because this is our sweat we worked for it and deserved to be paid.

I left Kwara United in 2018 and they are owing me over Seven Million naira, my wife and children are home nothing to feed them with we need our money.” Ayeni said in the video posted online.

This is not the first time the Ex-players have disrupted the training of the club. They’ve also once disrupted the team’s training session few months ago and also protested at the Government house demanding for their entitlement.

It’s left to be seen what the reaction of the Government of His Excellency AbdulRaman AbdulRazaq would do as regarding the development.
