Transport Management department emerged champions of the maiden edition of the CLASE VEINTIUNO TAZA (Class 21 Cup) at the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology ( LAUTECH) after edging their colleagues from Civil Engineering 1-0 in the final played on Wednesday at the Lautech Sports Complex.
Bashir’s first half 23rd minutes penalty goal was enough for Transport Management to clinch the title – putting up a masterclass defensive display to shut out Civil Engineer second half scare.
The competition which began on the 18th of May 2021 was organized by a 400 level Civil Engineering student of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology ( LAUTECH ), Moronfade Zainab who disclosed that her love and passion for the round leather game was the motivation towards organizing the competition.
“My passion and love for football was the reason behind organizing this competition.” She told newsmen after an eventful final.
Moronfade who wants to keep active participation in football administration and management revealed her desire in sustaining the competition despite getting closer to her final days on the campus.
“I want to get involved in football administration and management. Although i can’t play again but i wish to keep doing this. It wouldn’t end here even though I have one year left i will try as much as possible to keep it going even after completing my programme in school.” She concluded.
24 teams participated in the tournament.
