New Super Eagles Star Hopeful Of Future Captaincy

Newly invited Spartak Trnava defender Izuchukwu Anthony has expressed his desire to become captain of the Super Eagles in the nearest future. Owosports.com.ng garthered.

According to futbalgalore, the 23-year-old’s career has seen him play for Haugesund, Jerv and Nest-Sotra in the past.

The former Nigeria U23 defender was a late inclusion to the Super Eagles squad for the just concluded double header International friendly against five times Africa cup of Nations winners Cameroon following the withdrawal of Kenneth Omeruo, Leon Balogun, Semi Ajayi and Ola Aina.

Asked on his impression of the game, he said: “We could have done better, the result also is not a bad one. Cameroon is also a decent team, but I think we were better.

The defender was an unused substitute in both games but insisted he is not disappointed not to have featured as he believes there are more games to be played however reiterating his desire to Captain the Super Eagles in future.

“I believe it’s not how you start, it is how well you finish. I will captain the Super Eagles one day,” he concluded.

The Super Eagles who preparing for the commencement of the FIFA Worldcup qualifiers play Mexico in their next tune up game on the 4th of July.
