Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr has stated that the absent of Super Eagles key attackers was responsible for his team lack of goals scoring power in the double-header International friendly against Cameroon in Austria.
Super Eagles lost 1- 0 on Friday to Cameroon in the first leg of the friendly match played at the Stadion Wiener Neustadt in Vienna Austria.
No thanks to a 36th minutes strike from Andre Zambo Anguissa as the five times Africa champions won in regulations time against the Eagles for the first time since the 27th of August 1989.
The defeat was followed with a barren draw in the second leg of the friendly played on Tuesday as the Super Eagles failed to produce a goal after 180 minutes of football.
In a post match interview,the Super Eagles handler explained that it wasn’t easy for his team to score with the absent of Victor Osimhen, Samuel Chukwueze, Joe Aribo, and Henry Oyekuru who all missed out due to injuries.
“We didn’t want to concede a goal we wanted to score but we could not and when we are missing players like Osimhen, Aribo, Chukwueze, Kalu, Henry, it’s not easy.” He told Super Eagles media.
“But they (players) did well, we had a lot of chances in this two games we couldn’t score but the match today was interesting.
“It was the last match of the season for a lot of the players, they came in the middle of the holidays to work hard for 10 days with us and the fruits of the work will come and I think we will be ready in September for the World Cup qualifiers against Liberia and Cape Verde.
