Poised to make a big difference as they seek a promotion ticket from the new Nigeria National League (NNL) season, Shooting Stars of Ibadan have dropped four players.

OwoSports.com gathered from an inside source that the affected players were seen as surplus requirements as they didn’t measure up to standards owing to loss of form.

“We have retained quite a number of our good players, dropping four from the squad that took part in the pre-season tourney in Ijebu-Ode.

“The four of them didn’t meet the required standards set by the coaches as they dropped form drastically.

“We don’t want to have a large squad but a situation were the coaching crew can have a pool of players to choose in cases of injuries or card suspension going into the new season, which we expect to be tough looking at the calibre of teams gunning for the promotion ticket.”

The Oluyole Warriors missed out of gaining promotion to the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) at the end of last season after they lost 3-0 to Akwa Starlets in the Play-Off game at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba, Delta State.

The Edith Agoye side are in Group B1 alongside South-West derby rivals, Gateway Utd, Ekiti Utd, 36 Lions, Collins Edwin, Giant Brillars, Dynamite FC, Ibom Youths FC, Akajobi Utd, Apex Krane, Go Round and Abia Comets.
