NPFL: “I Have No Sleep” Lukman Ijaiya Speaks On The Magnitude Of Kwara United’s Job

Kwara United interim manager Lukman Ijaiya says standing in the dugout as the coach of NPFL side Kwara United is a huge task he never thought would coming this quick, Owosports.com.ng reports.

The coach who was formerly with the youth team of Kwara United, was drafted in as an assistant to Coach Abdullahi Biffo following the sack of two of the club’s assistant coaches, Ashifat Suliaman and Taofeek Babatunde early in May, however he was also made to stand in as the interim coach of the club following the departure of Abdullahi Biffo who travelled for an urgent medical treatment before news broke out that he won’t be returning to the club.

Speaking to journalist in post match interview after Kwara United’s narrow one nil victory over Sunshine Stars of Akure on Sunday in Ilorin, the Ex- footballer who was asked to describe his new role with the club responded saying, “It’s very huge”.

He further went on to reveal that he has ‘lost sleep’ since his appointment on the new role with the Harmony Boys saying that he never thought of being on that position anytime soon.

“It’s a very huge job for me. Honestly speaking I never planned for this, it took me unaware, I can’t sleep, at times i get up in the middle of the night and start thinking about alot of things to do before the game and during the game”, he said.

Junior Lokosa’s 28 minutes header gifted Kwara United their fifteenth league win of the season to keep alive their continental pursuit.

The coach reacting to the win said he wasn’t satisfied with their second half display stating that they could have done better as he believed they where lucky to come out with the win, he also noted that their second half display in recent games hasn’t been good aswell he however revealed that they are working to address the issue.

“I was not impressed with our second half display and this has been a cause of consign in recent weeks, our second half of the last for matches hasn’t been that good but we will be address the issue”, He concluded.

Kwara United will take on Niger Tornadoes in their next game away in Kaduna.
