The league management company has adjusted the match day one fixtures of the 2021/2022 Nigeria Professional Football League(NPFL) season.www.owosports.com.ng reports.
Recall that the league body had earlier scheduled all the match day 1 fixtures to hold on Friday, December 17th, 2021.
In a letter dated 15th of December which was signed by the Chief operating officer (COO) of the LMC, Salihu Abubakar, the league body says except for the opening game involving MFM and Remo Stars, all other matches will now hold on Sunday 19th of December.
The letter reads apart:
“Kindly refer to our earlier circular endorsing the full fixtures for the 2021/2022 season and note that all the matches for match day 1 are hereby moved to be played on Sunday, 19th of December with exception of the opening game; MFM vs Remo Stars which will be played on Friday 17th December at Mobolaji Johnson Onikan Stadium at 6:00pm”
Going into the new season, the Shehu Dikko led league body had secured sponsorhip of different categories with Bet9ja and Hero Lager Beer with reports also suggesting that main sponsor will be revealed in a matter of days.
While Akwa United are the defending champions of the league, Niger Tornadoes,Gombe United and Remo Stars are all the three teams that have secured promotion yo the elite league from the second tier league.
