Akwa United secured a 3-1 win over Heartland football club on Thursday evening at the Nest of Champions’ in Uyo to go top of the NPFL league table.

Charles Atshimene struck three minutes after the blast of the whistle to put the homeside in the front before adding his second of the game in the 24th minutes with the assist coming from Ubong Friday.

Chijoke Akuneto reduced the deficit for Heartland just a minute after Charles second goal in a game dominated by Akwa United.

The Kennedy Boboye led side would later seal the day as Ubong Friday who had earlier set up Charles in his second goal slot home another goal to place the homeside in a safe side of the encounter.

With just a point separating them from Kano Pillars who are second-placed on the log with 48 points, the promise keepers will have a hard knot to crack when they travel to Kaduna to face the former in the match day 27 of the league.
