The Commissioner for Youth and Sports development , Oyo State , Honourable Seun Fakorede has commended the organisers of the Ogbomosoland marathon race 2020.
Speaking during a courtesy call by the organisers of the marathon to his office recently in Ibadan,Oyo state capital,the commissioner said the marathon will help create beautiful awareness about the land.
He lauded the committee for the initiative which he said is in tandem with the government drive on public and private partnership in bringing about the desirable change to the state.
“I must really appreciate your tenacity and consistency over the need to stage this marathon against all odds” He quipped.
Fakorede who promised to be on ground for the marathon believes that the race will aid healthy living among the people and also serve as a platform for many youth to achieve their dreams.
Prince Oyebamiji Aderemi Joy,the Chairman of the organising committee revealed that they are hinged on delivering a colourful and successful event hence the need to interface with the commissioner and brief him on the efforts made so far.
In another meeting with the officials of Oyo state sports council, the committee expressed their readiness to collaborate with the sports governing body towards having a successful event.
The meeting had both sides deliberating on strategic ways to effect the appropriate standard in fulfilling the essence of the marathon which is slated for Saturday 28th of November,2020 in Ogbomoso.
Among state sports officials in the meeting are Mr ojelowo Kehinde A. ,Director organisation Oyo State Sports council, Mr Tunde Popola, Director Sports and training, Mrs Emilia Oyase Head Coach, Athletics association and Mrs Gbemi Tabi , Secretary Oyo State Athletics Association.
