The Head Coach of Remo Stars Sports Club has debunked reports of the arrival of the former Sunshine Stars centre forward, Alimi Sikiru in to the club, saying such development would only be made known to the public via the appropriate quarters.
Ogunbote made this known in a post match press chat with Journalists after his side 2-0 victory over Katsina United in the match day 15 of the NPFL.
The former Enyimba gaffer, while reacting to the question that whether the Club has signed the former Lobi Stars said the club will follow due process in making such development known to the public.
“It couldn’t have been any information. So, if we are giving out an information,it will come from our media house” he said.
Ogunbote noted that it would be a disservice if such a player upon his arrival at a club was not duly welcomed, adding that he is a big catch for any club in the country.
“Alimi is a big player. He will not go to any team in this country without being unveiled. So, i think If we have Alimi, we will need to make noise over it”.
Speaking about the ‘misunderstanding’ which ensued during the game on who should have played the penalty which was eventually scored by Andy Okpe , the former Sunshine Stars Technical Adviser admitted and regretted the fact that he didn’t assigned the penalty to anybody, hence the obvious uproar.
It was a bit of uproar in the 73rd minutes when Abayomi Adebayo tried to drag off Andy Okpe away from the penalty spot in a move which suggested low confidence in the ability of the former to make the chance count.
“Honestly, Yes! we do have a penalty (taker). This is our very first penalty and for a very long time we have not had any penalty -and unfortunately I didn’t assign anybody to do that otherwise , no body would have done it outside assigned player”
“So, we have played 14 games no penalty and we were not even expecting it , so we have had something more than a penalty like that were never given and for the very first time I didn’t assign anybody to play penalty . I think the fault is from me”.
Having lost three consecutive games, the 2 nil victory over Katsina United was a kind of booster that Remo Stars needed to keep their head within the equation of the league and by extension the top four agenda.
