Youth football in South West Nigeria has become a template for others and it will interest you to know that Governors of the Western Nigeria States are still committed to the development and complete revival of football in the South West region.
Director General of DAWN Commission (Managers of South West Nigeria Integration Agenda) Mr Seye Oyeleye in his previous statements agreed that the agenda for football development in the South west Nigeria is much alive.
He said the modalities to ensure seamless organisation of credible cup competition is still ongoing and that the process has not been jettisoned.
The leaders and elders of Yoruba clan are still passionate about the proposal to launch the Western Nigeria Governor’s Cup (WNGC), a mini tournament to be competed for at the grassroots level by all member states.
Otunba Akin Akinbobola the Executive Secretary of the Western Nigeria Football Forum (WNFF), still believes that with the maximum cooperation of all South West governors the O’odua league will make its mark despite initial challenges.
The unified team of South west Nigeria, (the Panthers) played against the Ekiti Bees in a test match put together by the leaders of the South west football forum to celebrate the birthday anniversary of the Governor of Ekiti state Dr Kayode Fayemi, and all things being equal, once Football is safe to return, events will unfold and Western Nigeria Football Forum will hit the ground running.
