Super Eagles debutant and Fenerbahce defender Bright Osayi-Samuel is delighted to make his first appearance for the Nigeria National team, reports owosports.com.ng

Osayi-Samuel played the right back position in the Super Eagles’ humiliating 4-0 loss to Portugal in a friendly match on Thursday night at the Estadio Jose Alvalade in Lisbon.

The former Queens Park Rangers player who played the entirety in Lisbon expressed his delights after an impressive debut performance.

“Honestly I am proud to play for my national team. Obviously whenever the national team calls me I am very honored,” Osayi-Samuel said while speaking in a post match interview with Ojbsport.

The England born player also debunked claims that the players did not put in their best, stating that the team is going through a process.

“Despite the results, which is not nice to be losing especially when we lost four nil, I think the team put in 100 percent.

“For me I think I tried my best. It’s a learning curve for me, you know, playing against the best players in the world who are going to the world cup. This is an experience where we learn, take from this game and try to improve ourselves.

The 24-year-old was the best player from the men in white with the Turkish League player also winning the penalty that was missed by Emmanuel Dennis in the 80th minute.

Portugal got their goals through Bruno Fernandes (brace), Goncalo Ramos and Joao Mario and came out comfortable victors on the night.
