Othman Bala Reveals Sports Agenda for Nasarawa State

The Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development in Nasarawa state, Honourable Othman Bala has revealed a policy thrust designed by the State Government to change the narratives in sports development.

He made the disclosure when the Berackiah/Abigol Football Coaching Clinic team paid him a courtesy visit in the Ministry of Youth and Sports development headquarters in Lafia.

Bala while commending the organizers of the clinic for finding the state worthy of hosting the programme said the project shares the same aspirations with the state priority on capacity and competence as a driving force for development.

He expressed optimism that sports development agenda package developed by the m
ministry will restore a confidence in governance and help curb youth restiveness in the state.

“We have a package that we call ‘Mop up’ – It is a package developed from this ministry as a result of our approach of thinking locally but acting globally.

He explained that the ‘Mop up’ programme encapsulates an annual sporting event calendar where all activities will be organized with target to discover talents and nuture them to stardom.

The former lawmaker added that the ministry has also designed a project called “Youth connect” where all the data of unemployed youth in the state will be captured in a bid to have clear and guided approach at providing jobs.
