Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho was in fine form as he netted his first premiership hattrick to help Leicester to a 5-0 victory over Sheffield United at the King Power Stadium.
The 2013 U17 FIFA Worldcup golden ball winner opened scoring in the 39th minutes off an assist from Jamie Vardy to put the Foxes in front heading into the break, Ayoze Perez doubled their lead in the 64th minutes to put Leicester City on course for the three points.
Kelechi Iheanacho made It three in the 69th minutes courtsey of a second assist from Jamie Vardy, he then completed his his hattrick in the 78th minutes after been put clear on goal by his compatriots Wilfred Ndidi, an own goal from Chelsea’s loanee Ethan Ampadu completed the rout on Sheffield United.
Kelechi have now scored in three consecutive games in the premiership for the first time in his career, after he scored against Brighton, Bunley and Sheffield United, he has now scored six premier league goals this season.
The 24 year old becomes only the sixth player to score a premier league hat-trick for Leicester City after Ian Marshall, Stan Collymore, Jaime Vardy and Ryand Mahrez.
Also the fifth Nigerian to score a premier league hat-trick after Efan Ekoku in a 1-5 win for Norwich away against Everton in 1993, Kanu Nwankwo in Arsenal 3-2 win against Chelsea in 1999 and for Portsmouth where he scored four against Middlesbrough in 2005, Yakubu Ayiegbeni for Everton in a 3-0 win against Fullham in 2007 and Peter Odewinge for Westbromish Albion in a 5-1 win over Wolves.
