Reports have had it that the players and officials of Super Eagles of Nigeria haven’t been paid their dues allowances and bonuses since July 2019.

“The team have played nine matches since the semi-final of the AFCON in July 2019 and the players (and officials of course) have not been paid a dime in allowances or bonuses since then. Not a red cent” Osasu Obayiuwana, a sport journalist claimed on his twitter handle.

This is coming at a time when football enthusiasts are calling for the sack of the Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr after the debacle of the AFCON 2021 qualifier with Sierra Leone.

The matches against Algeria and Tunisia in the semi-final and third place final of AFCON 2019, friendlies against Brazil, AFCON qualifier against Benin Republic and Lesotho and another friendlies with Algeria and Tunisia couple with the double-header against Sierra Leone all on the list of the unpaid schedules.

One would even think may be the unpaid allowances and bonuses had influenced the unconvincing performance against Sierra Leone when the Eagles eventually drew the first leg after a 4 goals down and went on to drew away from home.

However, it remains untenable for the NFF under any guise whatsoever to say there isn’t a fire on the mountain giving the present situation.

It is now up to people of memory and discernment to identify with this issue and bring the NFF to the public court of accountability.

How long do we continue to bear this obvious failure of the football governing body as they run the administration against the fundamentals and the rules.
