Rivers Angels Wallop Amis du Monde 5-1 To Seal Women’s CAF Champions League Spot


Champions of the 2020/2021 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) season, Rivers Angels have qualified for the inaugural TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Champions League after whipping Togolese Women top-flight side Amis du Monde 5-1 in the semi-final of the West African Football Union (WAFU-B) Zonal Qualifiers on Monday in Cote D’Ivoire, Owosports.com.ng reports.

A brace from Ezenagu Maryann, goals from Abiodun Deborah, Damilola Koku, and Cynthia Aku was enough to hands Rivers Angels an automatic qualifications to the maiden edition of the CAF Women’s Champions League set to go down this year.

The Club will face Hasaacas Ladies FC of Ghana in the final of the 2021 WAFU-B Zonal Qualifiers.

The Pride of Rivers had defeated Hasaacas in the group stages before qualifying for the knockout rounds.

According to Kick442, the qualification of Rivers Angels increased the number of teams that have qualified for the maiden CAF Women’s Champions League to five after Wadi Degla FC (Egypt), ASFAR (Morocco), AS Mandé (Mali), and Hasaacas Ladies FC (Ghana).

The Inaugural TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Champions League will take place later this year in Egypt.
