South Africans Shine In Value Jet IAU African Championship

Thobile Mbopkwa and Saneliswe Mbanjwa, both from South Africa have emerged as winners of the inaugural edition of the
Value Jet IAU African Championship -tagged Remo 2019, reports OwoSports.com.

Mbopkwa won the men’s 50km
race with a time of 3hrs:03secs while Prosper Mutwira from Zimbabwe came 2nd in a time of 3hrs:05mins:25secs.

Mbopkwa’s reward as the champion of IAURemo is a whopping sum of $2,000.

It was a smashing one for Nigeria as Iliya Pam came 3rd with a time of 03:12:35secs.

Apart from going home with $1,000 as a 3rd placed winner at the IAURemo, Pam will also get a bonus cash of #1million Naira from the CEO of Value Jet, Honourable Kunle Soname which he promised at the press conference and gala night on Friday.

In the Women’s Race, Mbanjwa became the first woman to finish the IAURemo race.
She won for herself a whooping sum of $2,000 for her effort.

Elizabath Nuhu Power was 1st Nigerian woman to cross the finish line as she came 2nd with a time of 3hrs:47mins:39secs while Scheffer Lerlani of South Africa 3hrs:48mins:01secs to win $1500 and $1,000 respectively.

Meanwhile, Ogun State Governor, HIS Excellency Prince Dapo Abiodun
has commended the organisers of the race for a job well done.

“A few weeks ago, we hosted the 10km race in Abeokuta, today we have successfully staged the a 50km African Ultra race, I must commend Mr Bukola Olopade who is the brain behind the events, we won’t stop here.
