Tributes As Nigeria Beach Soccer Coach, Audu Adamu Laid To Rest


Coach Audu Adamu, the Nigeria National Beach Soccer team Technical Adviser gave up the ghost on Saturday’s evening in Anyigba, Kogi State.

The gaffer was reported dead on Saturday few hours after publicity about his critical condition and appeal for financial assistance to rescue his deteriorating health status was making round.

Mahmud Hadeija, the President of African Beach Soccer Union said while reacting to the death  “Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi rajiun. Now is a time to pray for the departed and be strong as a family.

“May God Almighty grant his soul eternal rest and grant all he left behind the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss. Amen” were the tributes coming from the Chairman of Kwara State Beach Soccer Association, Alhaji Abdullateef Adedimeji.

Olawale Isiaka, the Captain of the Nigeria Beach Soccer team described the death of the coach as a huge loss to the Beasal family.

“Sad news. May God rest the soul of Coach Audu Adamu Ejo, and  grant the family and loved ones he left behind the fortitude to bear the big loss” said Ademola Olajiire,NFF Head of Communications.

Adamu became the Technical Adviser of the Super Sand Eagles in 2009 and has led the Nigerian team to many continental and International tournament.

Coach Ejor as he is fondly called was reported to have been battling Diabetes for long time  and could have died due to  complications from the said disease.

Adamu, who became the technical adviser of the Super sand Eagles in 2009, led the  country to one Africa Beach Soccer Cup of Nation glory in Durban, South Africa in 2019
before the disbandment of the team following their World Cup poor outing in Paraguay in the same year.

Ejor led the country to four Beach Soccer World Cup tournaments and Copa Lagos success three times while also winning several national and international competitions, including a silver at Keta Cup in Ghana in 2016 with Kogi State Beach Soccer team.

Sunday Okayi former NFF Beach Soccer secretary and Fifa instructor announced the coach demise on the social platform on Saturday.

“Good evening Friends. It is with a heavy heart that I wish to inform us that our Coach, Friend and Brother has gone to be with his Maker. He breathed his last some minutes go,”

He has been buried according to Islamic rites earlier on Sunday
in Anyigba, Kogi State.
