Uncertainty Clouds NNL January 16th Commencement Date

Reports have emerged about the uncertainty of the new NNL season to commence on the scheduled January 16th date.

About 42 teams are expected to grind off challenges in their quest for promotion to the NPFL and there are strong indications that the league which has suffered range of ambiguities will not commenced as billed.

As at the time of filing this reports, source claimed that “only 5 teams have paid their registration fees out of the 42 teams participating in the league.

The source added that NNL has extended clubs registration to 13th of January, a strong evidence which suggest the league will not hold in January.

While the aforementioned instances could be established, another standard that remains an integral part of the league and still begging to be attended to is the fixtures-match schedules for the upcoming season are yet to be released as at the time of this press.

Recall NFF in their last meeting which held in Abeokuta on Monday, December 28th had approved the mooted Saturday, January 16th date for the commencement of the Nigeria second tier league.

The NNL is expected to maintain it’s abridged league format where 42 teams were divided into 2 different conferences(Southern and Northern) and 4 groups, making the system more demanding for clubs than ever.
