A delegation from the Confederation of African Football (CAF), has arrived Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital for the final inspection of the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo ahead of the inaugural edition of the African Football League, formerly called the African Super League.

The members of the delegation from CAF arrived the Victor Attah International Airport earlier today, alongside officials of Enyimba Football club, led by Chairman and Super Eagles legend, Nwankwo Kano, Sporting Director, Ifeanyi Ekwueme, and were received by member of the Normalisation Committee of the Akwa Ibom State Football Association, Anietie Ferdinand Udoh.

In a chat, Udoh said a meeting held this evening with the delegation, while the inspection of the stadium will take place tomorrow, Friday, July 28, 2023.

Meanwhile, Four Points by Sheraton, Ikot Ekpene, which served as accommodation for Young Africans Sports Club of Tanzania when they faced Rivers United in the CAF Confederation Cup quarter final, has been inspected today.

Other facilities to be inspected include the Ibom Icon Hotel and Golf Resort, Ibom Specialist Hospital and Monty Suites, Uyo.

The Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo is set to host Enyimba FC – who took Horoya AC of Guinea’s spot – after the failure of the Guinean side to meet up with stadium requirements for participation in the lucrative tournament.

With October as the month for its kickoff, Enyimba FC will battle for the title alongside top African clubs from other regions of the continent.

CAF Champions League holders, Al Ahly of Egypt, Morocco’s Wydad Athletic Club, Esperance of Tunisia, DR Congo’s TP Mazembe, Angola’s Petro Atletico, Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa and Simba Sports Club of Tanzania are the other clubs reported to be involved in the Africa Football League.
