Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) management and head coach, Gbenga Ogunbote, have confirmed that negotiations for a new contract are ongoing.
Ogunbote, popularly known as the Oracle, revealed the update in an interview with Ibadan-based radio station, Yes FM.
Recent reports suggesting that Ogunbote had signed a new contract were dismissed as false by the coach and the club’s General Manager, Dimeji Lawal.
“I’m astonished by the news, as I haven’t spoken to the media about it,” Ogunbote said.
Lawal, a former international player, confirmed that discussions are progressing positively and expressed confidence that the contract will be finalized soon.
“We’re close to reaching an agreement, and I’m optimistic it will be sorted out soon,” Lawal said.
3SC finished fourth in the Nigeria Premier Football League last season, narrowly missing out on a continental ticket by just two points. The club is eager to build on this success, and securing Ogunbote’s services is a key part of their plans.
The ever passionate Ibadan fans will be eagerly waiting for updates on the contract talks as the team prepares for the upcoming season.
