According to the directive of the NFF for state to produce a team that will represent them at this year’s Aiteo FA Cup, States Association have less than 5 days to meet up with the Sunday Dakoro house demands.
While State FA in Kwara and Kogi have swung into action with a definite template for a competition to determine their representatives,it is still unclear whether other states will present their own representatives without competitions.
In a statement released on Tuesday, Kogi State Football Association has set its registration fee for the state edition of the Aiteo Cup at #250,000 for NNL Clubs,#150,000 for NWFL Clubs and #50,000 for Non League Clubs.
For Kwara State Football Association, it urged interested clubs to fulfil a registration fee of one hundred thousand naira (N100,000) for Male and Fifty thousand naira (50,000) for Female category respectively.
While the two state FAs has set 10th of June as the closing date for registration,Kogi State FA has billed its kick off date for 11th of June as Kwara also scheduled the final for the championship to hold on 12th of June 2021 .
The NFF directive was contained in a statement dated 4th June and signed by the Secretary of the Organising Committee, Wilfred Onaji, which reads, “The Organising Committee of Nigeria Football Federation NFF on the directive by CAF all countries should submit by 30th June 2021 names of the teams that will take part in the various CAF Competitions.
In view of the above, the Committee concluded that all States Football Association should produce one representative latest 14 of June, 2021. A national draw will be held at a date that will be communicated for the 37 teams that qualify.”
However, while some states may be opting for consensus to pick their representatives, many have expressed shock over the registration fee fixed by other State FAs and the time frame for the competition.
Part of their arguments is that the best of the teams might not be witnessed with the short notice of competition while some could not also afford the financial commitment required for participation.
