85th Birthday: Former President Obasanjo Dazzles In Novelty Match

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Friday took the pitch by storm in a novelty match organised as part of events commemorating his 85th birthday.

The match which held on a 5-aside football field was between Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) team and Ogun State Goverment officials team.

Nothing short of excitements in the game where OOPL team Captained by the celebrant himself tackled the Ogun State goverment officials led by the Deputy Governor of the State, Dr. Noimot Oyedele-Salako.

Speaking after the game, former President Obasanjo revealed to newsmen the secrets of his agility despite his old age.

He stated the concept of ‘DREMS’ as part of what has sustained him and also advised people to imbibe the details of the concept.

“I will like them to remember what I called ‘DREMS’ . D stands for Diet, R stands for rest, E is for exercise, M is medical attention and S for social interaction’ he said.

Among many other personalities at the football event was the Ogun State born football legend, Segun Odegbami.

An elder statesman, former President Obasanjo served as Nigeria’s Head of State from 1976 to 1979 in a Military regime and later as President from 1999 to 2007 in a democratic dispensation.
