Ahead of the second round of the 2024 Nigeria Beach Soccer League (NBSL), the league board has announced the dates and host for the upcoming clashes.
The second round has been scheduled for May 15 to 18, 2024, in Nnewi, Anambra State.
Teams and officials are expected to arrive Nnewi on May 12, a day before the beach soccer clinic which will come up ahead of the kick-off.
On May 14, teams will observe their official training before games get underway from May 15 to 18.
After playing five games in the first round, teams will also play another five sets of games in the second round.
The top four teams at the end of the second round will qualify for the Super Four Finals where the league champions will emerge in Kaduna State.
In April, six teams started the journey in Kebbi State as Kebbi Fishers BSC and Kada BSC, the two teams that have won the league are tied at the top of the table with 10 points apiece.
Kebbi Fishers BSC are two-time winners of the league in 2021 and 2023 respectively and are the current defending champions.
The Fishers are also Africa’s top-ranked beach soccer team according to Beach Soccer Worldwide (BSWW) latest club ranking.
Kada BSC won the title in 2022 and are searching for their second while the host of the second round, Anambra Beach Soccer Warriors in third place are making a strong return to the league in search of their first title.
Nmanko Patigi BSC from Kwara State have been an ever-present team in the league and had their best placed finish in second position last season.
Kebbi United BSC also from Kebbi State are making their second appearance in the league. They will need strong performances and good run of results in the second round to qualify for the Super Four Finals.
Jigawa Golden Stars BSC is the only debutant taking part in this season’s league and sits in the fourth position with five points from five games.
