The game of football has been described as the “King of Sports,” renowned for its role in solidifying and unifying countries across the globe.
This declaration was made by the Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Sports Commission, Mallam Bola Magaji, on Friday during the official unveiling of the Sardauna of Ilorin U-16 Football Competition.
Magaji highlighted that the investments by the administration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq serve as a testament to the numerous grassroots sports programs being organized across the state.
He noted that the U-16 football competition, organized by Ultimate Sports Consult in collaboration with the Kwara State Sports Commission, is reminiscent of the 1981 state sports festival, which included areas like Okene, Kaabah, and Lokoja when they were part of Kwara State.
“I am delighted to be part of this laudable initiative. This competition aims to accelerate the development of football and other sporting activities at the grassroots level,” Magaji said.
During the event, the Sports Commission also made a formal request to the Chairmen of the Local Government Councils to provide office for the commission to post its post officers to represent it across various Councils to further strengthening sports development efforts.
