Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong has expressed confidence and unity within the team ahead of Friday’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Lesotho in Polokwane.
Speaking to super eagle’s tv, the skipper shared his optimism as the three-time African champions fine-tuned their preparations for the crucial encounter.
“Everyone who’s here deserves to be here,” Troost-Ekong said. “They’re doing well at their clubs, and the coach trusts them. I’m very happy with the group we have, and we’re focused on the final training before Friday’s game.”
The experienced defender also addressed the absence of some key players, noting it as a chance for others to step up. “It gives other boys the opportunity to fill those voids. There are no question marks everyone here is ready to contribute,” he added.
Troost-Ekong further appreciated the massive support from Nigerians across the world. “We miss our teammates who couldn’t make it, but we know they’re supporting us, along with the 270 million Nigerians backing us from home,” he said.
With confidence soaring in camp, the Super Eagles will be aiming for victory when they face the Crocodiles of Lesotho at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Friday.
