The ABS FC Player Talent Hunt has taken another exciting step forward, with the North West zone coming to a close at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna today, Saturday July 27th 2024 with a total of 28 players scouted.
The two-day programme featured a total of 370 players from 23 youth teams and Academies.
The players were scouted for both the Players’ Talent Hunt and Development Programme (PTDP) and for the Abubakar Bukola Saraki Football Club main team.
While briefing the players after the final selection, which included a test match against Rambo Football Acedemy, the Project Consultant, Shogo Shodunnke said that the programme was aimed at discovering talented players, and exposing them to foreign footballing markets in Europe and other places.
“We are here to compliment your efforts and involvement in developing young players. PTDP is a sure pathway for young Nigerian players who are aspiring to get to the top.
“We are ready to collaborate with coaches and clubs in Kaduna on capacity building and players pathway partnership”, he said.
The Head of Technical, Coach Salihu Yusuf said that the players were picked of merit, and considering both tactical and technical yardsticks in doing so.
The Talent Hunt and Development Programme, which is being held in conjunction with international partners, was aimed at discovering and marketing over 30 players to Europe and other places yearly.
The programme will be held in the six geo-political zones, with Bauchi State hosting the North East edition between July 29th and 30th, Calabar hosting the South South edition between 2nd and 3rd of August, and South East edition holding in Owerri from August 5th to 6th.
The South West edition will hold in Edo-Ekiti from August 8th to 9th, with the grand finale, North Central edition, scheduled to hold in Ilorin.
