Abubakar Bukola Saraki Ilorin Football Club has paid a heartfelt tribute to late former Welfare Officer, Joseph Igiri, by dedicating their hard-fought 2-1 victory over Godswill Akpabio FC to his memory.
Joseph Igiri served the club with unwavering dedication for over a decade, and his contributions to the team’s success were immense. His passing on December 20, 2024, after a brave battle with illness, has left a gaping void in our team.
As a mark of respect, a one-minute silence was observed before the game in his honour, a poignant reminder of his enduring impact on the club.
Director of Football, Chief Alloy Chuwuemeka, remembered Igiri as a “passionate and dedicated servant” who gave his all to our club. “He will be greatly missed,” Chuwuemeka added, reflecting on the profound impact Igiri had on the team.
The victory over Godswill Akpabio FC, secured through Moshood Olaniyan’s late penalty kick, was a fitting tribute to Igiri’s memory. The team’s determination and resilience on the pitch were a testament to the values Igiri instilled in them during his time at our club.
