Niger Tornadoes technical adviser and former Kwara United boss was born in Minna the Niger State Capital on April 24th 1969. He delved into coaching on June 1985 with Kwangila Shooting Stars.
Coach Abubakar Bala Mohammed won his first Football Trophy in 1986 when Flying Stars defeated Niger Black Stars 4-3 via penalty shoot outs to lift JP U13 Football Competition.
He is the first indigenous coach to win a National Football Trophy titled Tsoho Abdullahi National U 21 competition organized by FEYSOC at Lokoja in 1996 after beating Cross Rivers team 3-1 in the final that featured Hon. Abubakar Garba Mohammed (Skipper) Former Commissioner of Sports, Niger State, who was a player in the then winning team, White Heart National, alongside Coach Bello Mohammed the present Niger Tornadoes Goalkeeper Trainer who was the reserve goalkeeper in the final.
He is the first indigenous Coach that led Niger Tornadoes FC to Aiteo Cup Finals twice in three years (2017-2019)
He is the First Indigenous Coach to sponsor 4 aspiring Coaches to National Institute for Sport (N.I.S) to obtain relevant qualifications.
He is the first Coach that gave two local Under15 players a break through to Niger Tornadoes main team.
Under his stewardship 10 local footballers were recruited to join Niger Tornadoes main team, first in history of the club.
Three players of Niger origin received call ups to the National U20 Flying Eagles in 2018 courtesy of Coach Abubakar Bala, while he was assistant coach in the National Team.
He is the first indigenous coach to guide Niger Tornadoes to home League unbeaten at a neutral venue (Lokoja) the record still stands.
