Uzbekistan born former Nigerian international Peter Osaze Odemwingie has expressed regrets not been part of the Super Eagles 2013 African Cup of Nations winning squad in South Africa.
The former West Bromwich Albion of England winger was Omitted from the squad by late coach Stephen Keshi following a riff with team Officials.
Speaking with Super Eagles media team in a live Instagram interview, the former International now turned Golfer said he regretted missing the opportunity to win a major title with his country.
“I dreamt of the team winning the trophy before it kicked off the tournament. But you know when you’re young and believe your decision is true, you just want to stick to it. Okay, now it’s past but it’s something I ‘d done differently”.
Super Eagles won the African Cup of Nations title for the record third time in South Africa beating Burkina Faso 1-0 in the Final.
Osaze who scored 10 goals in 63 appearances for the Nigeria senior team participated in four AFCON tournaments, two World Cup and was also part of the U-23 squad for the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympic Games, where he won a silver medal.
Peter Osaze however starred out with host European clubs including, OSC Lille, Lokomotiv Moscow, West Bromwich Albion, Cardiff City, Stoke City, Bristol City, Rotherham United, before calling it quit in 2019 with Indonesia club Madura United.
