AFCON 2021: Eagles Drawn Alongside Pharaohs, Sudan And Guinea Bissua In Group D

The stage is now set for the 33rd edition of the 2021 TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) to be hosted in Carmeroon from the 9th of January to the 6th of February 2022.

Various teams aswell as the Super Eagles have now known their opponent going into the biennial international men’s football championship of Africa organised by the Confederation of Africa Football CAF following it’s draw’s that was held on Tuesday night in Yaounde Cameroon.

Host Nations and five times winners Cameroon have been paired in Group A alongside 2013 losing finalist Burkina Faso, Ethiopia and Cape Verde who will be making their second appearance.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria winners of the 2013 edition in South Africa will slog it out against The Pharaohs of Egypt, Sudan and Guinea Bissua in Group D while defending champions Algeria will look to retain their title as they battle AFCON 2015 winners Cote D’Ivoire, Sierra Leone and Equatorial Guinea in Group E.

The Afcon was originally due to be held this year two years after the 2019 event in Egypt but was pushed back until early 2022 in light of the Covid19 pandemic.
