OwoSports.com.ng has scooped that the Super Eagles could play their next 2023 AFCON qualifier against Guinea-Bissau in Uyo come September.

Recall last month, the African football governing body, CAF had gave the 30,000 capacity Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, Akwa Ibom the green light to host the Confederation Cup final, which  RS Berkane of Morocco won after beating Orlando Pirates of South Africa 5-4 on spot kicks after the game ended in a one all draw.

To have a first hand assessment on Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Super Eagles head Coach Jose Peseiro on Saturday will be in Uyo to watch the Nigeria Professional Football League match between reigning Champions Akwa United versus Plateau United.

Coach Peseiro who took charge of Super Eagles in May will be accompanied by his assistant Acacio Dos Santos and Super Eagles Head of Administration Enebi Achor.

The Portuguese, will also have a technical session with Head Coach Ayodeji Ayeni of Akwa United and that of Plateau United Fidelis Ilechukwu after the crucial game.

While still in Uyo, Peseiro and his assistant will on Sunday morning be conducted round the facilities at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium by a member of the NFF technical committee Elder Paul Bassey.

If Peseiro gets impressed by what he sees, the stadium could host Nigeria versus Guinea-Bissau in the 2023 AFCON qualifiers in September.
