Nigeria men’s senior National Football team, The Super Eagles on Friday secured a vital 1-0 win over Libya National team in matchday three of the Morocco 2025 African Cup of Nations (AFCON )qualifiers played at Goodwill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.
Fisayo Dele-Bashir’s 86th minutes lone strike was the difference as Super Eagles of Nigeria defeated the hardfighting Libya to maintain their perfect run in the qualifying series.
The Lazio midfielder, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru who came on in place of Fulham’s Alex Iwobi in the 74th minute scored in the 86th minute to dent the visitors’ aim of sharing the spoil with the hosts.
With the victory, Nigeria leads Group D with seven points scoring four goals with the only clean slate of the group.
Benin Republic are second on the log under the tutelage of the former Super Eagles Coach Gernot Rohr has six points scoring five goals and conceding four.
Rwanda is still 3rd with two points scoring one goal and conceding four while Libya stays down with one point scoring two goals and conceding four.
Eagles will fly to Benghazi to take on the Knights at the Martyrs of Benina Stadium, 19 kilometres away from Benghazi on Tuesday, 15th October as they hope to secure a double win over the Libyan team.
