Nigeria Women National Hockey team have qualified for the final of the Africa Hockey Olympic Qualifier after beating Kenya 1-0 on Thursday.
Having lost 4-0 to host South Africa in their opening pool A match, Ndana Baba led team managed to beat Zimbabwe 2-1 in their last Pool A game to book place with Kenya who came top of Pool B with maximum nine points.
Johnson Benedicta’s three minutes strike was enough to separate both sides as Kenya failed to capitalize on several corners Nigeria conceded during half time.
Kenya continue to mount pressure in order to cancel the early lead in the second half of the game but their efforts hit the rock.
The winner between South Africa and Ghana in the second semi final will face Nigeria at the university of Pretoria on Sunday.
Only one team from the male and female team will represent African continent at the Olympic game in France next year.
