Head coach of Super Eagles B team Salisu Yusuf believes his team can turn the tie around against the Black Galaxies in the return leg of the CHAN qualifiers slated to go down at the MKO Abiola Stadium Abuja on Saturday September 3rd 2022, Owosports.com.ng reports.

The Chan Eagles lost the first of the two legged Championship of African Nations qualifying fixture against the Black Galaxies 2-0 in Cape Coast on Sunday evening courtesy of second half goals from Afriyie Barnieh and Suraj Seidu.

Speaking in the post match presser at the Cape Coast stadium in Ghana, the Kano Pillars gaffer admitted that the penalty call was very difficult to take but emphasized that the players will go and prepare well for the second leg.

“The penalty was a big blow to my team and it caused comotions there and we believed that the referee was a little bit harsh in giving out the penalty. Though we tried to come back into the game, creating some moments until we conceded the second goal and we still fought. So I think it is Football we’ll still work hard and see how we can score two goals.”

“The world cup has come and gone for us Nigerians because Ghana qualified. We drew the away game in Kumasi and our game 1-1 to so they qualified and now they are ahead again, it is football and I believe we can work out we concede two goals and anything can happen”,

Captain of the side, Tope Olusesi who was also part of the presser said the game wasn’t a bad game noting that Ghana were a good side concluding that the penalty lead to the team’s defeat.

“Captain: It wasn’t a bad game, we believe they are a good side and then the first half was a good one for us because we have to play and move the ball faster. In the beginning of the second half it was a mistake but definitely.”

“I think the mistake gave them(Ghana) more confidence that they can win with more goal margin. It was a disappointing game for us because we never expected it (the defeat) to be this way.”

In other to make it to the CHAN 2023 in Algeria, Coach Salisu Yusuf’s team will hope to overturne a 2-0 first leg deficit in the second leg which would be played at the MKO Abiola National Stadium Abuja on Saturday, September 3.
